SUPERNOVA ticketing system

SUPERNOVA is a yearly event held in Waregem (Belgium). With their slogan "Party in style" they take nightlife to the next level by investing a lot of time and budget into the ultimate experience for the visitor: working around a central theme with exclusive decorations, a pleasant atmosphere, special acts and a stylish audience.

This experience already starts at the entrance. I have provided a ticketing system built specifically for this event. The goal of the system was to allow the organisation to manage the ticket serial numbers, pre-sale points, VIP registrations, table arrangements and sponsors. At the entrance booths, hostesses were able to scan the ticket barcodes of the visitors. On-screen they immediately received visual confirmation whether the ticket was valid and if applicable, they received a notification informing them of the benefits that were included with the visitor's ticket.

The system keeps track of the sold and redeemed tickets. There is a live status panel built into the administration section where the organisation is able to follow the current visitor count during the event or keep track of the pre-sales before the event takes place.

As every edition is focused around a central theme, I worked together with the event to integrate the ticket system into the visitor's thematic experience. These small extra touches attempt to add a little interactivity to the otherwise boring situation of waiting in line.

For SUPERNOVA Airlines, we transformed the entrance hall into a true airport terminal, complete with gates, security checkpoints and luggage drop-off points. Every visitor's redeemed ticket counted up towards the check-in count of visitors currently 'on board'. The screens also displayed the current artist (flight), the timetable for the rest of the night and the current time. The news scroller also invited users to like the social media channels, using a like counter that was constantly updated. All data was pushed to the screens in real-time using Websockets under the hood.

With SUPERNOVA Chemistry, we went back to the drawing board and visitors now found themselves at the entrance of a lab, where they had to undergo thorough testing before being permitted entry to the lab. Visitors saw "Scanning in progress" animations on the screens as soon as someone's ticket was scanned.
